Explore a historic conservatory
This one is a mom favorite. Seriously, call your mom, your mom friends, your boss’s mom, any mom — and get them to this gem. Built in 1908, the W.W. Seymour Botanical Conservatory in Tacoma’s Wright Park boasts a permanent collection of ferns, palms, fig trees, bromeliads, orchids and many other rare, unusual and endangered plants, as well as seasonal floral exhibits and installations. Swoon. I mean, the kids will probably like it, too. But hey, if not, a playground and splash park are just a stone’s throw away.
During the holiday season, the conservatory is transformed into a beautiful otherworldly landscape of light, shadows and colors in the installation “Light Plantasia.”
