2017 Golden Teddy Awards — Camps + Classes

Team sports

Sensational sports camp or program

Winner: Girl Scouts of Western Washington

You enthusiastically support Girl Scouts of Western Washington’s opportunities to get girls engaged in sports — mainly sports of the less traditional sort. Three area Girl Scout camps, Camps Robbinswold, St. Albans and River Ranch, welcome girls to explore hiking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, archery, tree-climbing and more. You love the empowerment your girls find in these pursuits, among a community of supportive counselors and fellow campers. No prior Girl Scouts experience is required to attend camp.

Finalists

Among team sports for Northwest kids, soccer is king. You dig the Lil' Kickers soccer program that orients children as young as 18 months of age to the world’s most popular game. Programs take place at many locations around the Northwest.

The youth sports league organization i9 Sports fills a special niche and your votes show your appreciation for it. i9 Sports aims to keep the focus on fun and skill-building for kids, rather than on competition.

Stroum Jewish Community Center’s sports camp is all sports, all the time, and your young athletes love it. Kids in grades K–5 explore a variety of sports and engage in daily drills and scrimmages. With sportsmanship a special focus of this program, you appreciate that kids are learning life lessons relevant both on and off the field.

Bellevue’s PRO Sports Club garnered your votes for its youth sports programs. Many instructors are coaches or former elite athletes and you’re thrilled with the skills they’re teaching your kids. PRO Sports Club’s programs offer instruction in popular team sports like soccer and basketball, as well as aquatics, squash, tennis and racquetball.
