Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail, Puyallup
The Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail, named for a local Green Beret killed in Afghanistan in 2002, connects Puyallup’s South Hill Community Park and Heritage Recreation Center. The wide asphalt path cuts through man-made wetlands and forests for about 1.5 miles. If that isn’t enough, add on the South Loop Trail, a 1-mile loop that encircles the playground at South Hill Community Park.
When you’re done, stop for a snack at one of the picnic tables and enjoy the playset. Fill up at kid-pleaser Sonic Drive-In, a couple of miles away, or hit downtown Puyallup for lots of options, including something from across the pond at British Bites.
Find it: Access the Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail via South Hill Community Park at 14201 86th Ave. E. in Puyallup.
