The setting: Formerly known as Getaway Cabins, Postcard Cabins changed its name — but not its vibe — last October. Rental info: Postcard Cabins are custom-built tiny cabins, ranging in size from 140–200 square feet. Reservations now include a destination fee, which covers three bundles of firewood, a s'mores kit, snacks and beverages. Dogs are welcome for an additional fee (and the cabin will be stocked with essentials, such as a dog bowl and a tie-out cable, for their stay). Bonus: Since Marriott Bonvoy acquired Postcard Cabins this year, families can now book with points.

Nearby things to do: There is plenty to do in Skagit Valley, from exploring Bay View State Park and the Padilla Bay Reserve to hiking nearby nature trails. Pair your stay with a day of apple picking in the fall, or go in the spring to admire the tulips. If you stay at the Postcard Cabins near Portland, you can hike the trails in the Columbia River Gorge or you can stay and explore the forest setting and nature trails near the cabin.
