The Ultimate Car Survival Kit for Parents
Stuff to keep them quiet
"Water Wow" books — I like to keep a set of "Water Wow" books by Melissa & Doug in the car (and only in the car, so my toddler doesn’t get sick of them by using them elsewhere). You know you’ll always have water in the car to refill the little pen, and kids literally can’t make a mess with them, as hard as they might try!
Snacks — Choose snacks that won’t melt if they’re left in the car for months on end. Think packets of nuts or granola bars that don’t involve too much chocolate that could end up stuck to the wrapper after a few hot days. (Get a few recipe ideas for dinner in the car.)
Pack of cards or flashcards — For older kids, a pack of cards can help stave off boredom. For younger kids, flashcards will do the same in a pinch.
