Remodeled in the fall of 2018, Seattle’s beloved Lake City branch reopened in January 2019 to community acclaim: The renovated space is larger, lighter and brighter, with flexible meeting spaces to house events such as its popular Homework Help sessions and story times. A playtime plus: Magna-Tiles in the kids’ area.
Day trip: After hitting the farmers market (Thursdays, 3–7 p.m., June–early October; look for the library’s craft stand), either picnic at the park on the premises or hoof it a half-mile to Virgil Flaim Park, with its new skate spot and playground.
