If you asked a bunch of kids what they thought paradise might look like, I’m guessing many of them would imagine a landscape filled with bouncy houses. (Plus, maybe huge buckets of candy and root beer on tap?)
Well, my young friends, imagine no more. This kids’ nirvana of inflatables arrives in Seattle in July, and it’s called Bounce The City.
Bounce The City Seattle will set up shop in the parking lot of Westfield Southcenter Mall, opening Saturday, July 6. And it’s here for less than a month, open weekends only, which means you should book your tickets ASAP.
Don’t worry, thrill-seeking grown-ups, Bounce The City Seattle is not just for kids. Bouncy houses and inflatables are super fun for the young and old alike. In a crazy, sweaty, wild kind of way. Which is not for everyone, but some grown-ups may well want to get in on the action. Others may just want to supervise their crew from the comfort of an inflatable couch.
Bounce The City inflatables
Bounce The City features four large inflatable areas, including an intergalactic world, an obstacle course, a silent disco dome and a towering slide.
In “City Xscape,” you’ll find inflatable skyscrapers, aliens, and places to slide and climb. It’s a colorful attraction that will feel otherworldly to kids.
For kids (and grown-ups) looking for a challenge, the 600-foot obstacle course is filled with hurdles, hoops, twists and turns. You can choose how competitive to be on it, either bouncing through at a comfortable pace or racing to the finish line.
The silent disco will have live DJs spinning tracks. With three channels to choose from, the whole family can pick their preferred jams while they bounce around.
And of course, it wouldn’t be Bounce The City without a giant inflatable slide. The tropical-themed slide means you’ll venture under a bright rainbow between large inflatable palm trees. Perfect for a summer day!
Bounce The City Seattle restrictions and requirements
Bounce The City is open to children 15 and younger and their parents and caregivers. Separate “Junior Sessions” welcome families with kids ages 7 and younger only, for a slightly gentler experience. Children ages 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult, who must also pay admission. (Not sure we’d let a 4-year-old loose without a responsible teen at least.) Bounce sessions are 90 minutes long, and inflatable areas are cleaned between sessions.
The maximum weight for participants is 245 pounds, and the maximum allowable height is 6 feet, 4 inches. Two inflatable features have further restrictions: Bounce The City’s slide and obstacle course have a minimum height requirement of 36 inches.
It’s an outdoor event, so dress appropriately for the weather. And keep in mind that socks are required on the inflatables.
Spectators can enter the Bounce The City grounds for free, but cannot jump on or enter the inflatables without a ticket.
What to eat at Bounce The City
If you work up an appetite from all that jumping and bouncing, there will be a “Bounce Cafe” with food trucks and a patio where you can grab a snack. You can also take your pick from the wide variety of food options available throughout the mall.
