Dance chance. Papas can take their daughters out for a special night on the town — or, at least at the community center — in Lacey on Saturday, Feb. 6. Preregister (and they mean it; no tickets sold at the door) for one of two Daddy & Daughter Dances: The Princess Ball, 3–5 p.m., is for girls ages 6 and younger, while the Daddy & Daughter Dance, 6:30–9 p.m., is for 6-year-olds and older. $25 per couple; each additional daughter, $5. Held at the Lacey Community Center; call 360-491-0857 to make a reservation.
Tiger balm. The zoo’s big cats get some big love this Valentine’s Day weekend at “Big Cats, Big Party.” Head to the Asian Forest Sanctuary to watch tigers Bali, Java and Jaya get special treats, toys and enrichment activities designed to keep them healthy and happy. Look for human enrichment, too: Touch tiger fur, learn what those fearsome roars mean and more. Free with admission. Saturday–Sunday, Feb. 13–14, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, Tacoma.
