Event Picks South Sound, November 2009

Published on: November 01, 2009

In for the night. Sneak away for a few hours while the kiddos are occupied with crafts, games and dinner — under adult supervision, of course — at Kids’ Night In. It’s a bargain at $15 per child (each additional child in the same family is $10), and it’s for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. Held at the Frontier Park Lodge in Graham. Sign up the fam by calling 253-798-4177.

Eye have it. Does your child squint to see the blackboard? Not sure? Area optometrists will be at the Hands On Children’s Museum this month to answer that question for you. Kids of all ages are invited to put their peepers to the test for free (no admission required) on Saturdays, Nov. 7, 14 and 21, noon–2 p.m. 106 11th Ave. S.W., Olympia. 360-956-0818.

Trip (through) the lights fantastic. Here’s your one chance this season to ditch the car and walk — not drive — through the Fantasy Lights in Spanaway Park. Meander through the two and a half miles of animated light displays and burn some calories in anticipation of Thanksgiving. Preregister by Nov. 16 to get in for a cool $3 per person (download the form), or pay $4 at the gate. Meet in the Sprinker Recreation Center parking lot, 14824 South C St. in Spanaway. Bring the kids, the strollers and the flashlights, but leave scooters, bikes, skates and pets at home. Sunday, Nov. 22, 5–7 p.m.
