Spring is a great time to clear out closets for a fresh new start. If you happen to have old car seats you no longer need, don’t miss out on Target’s biannual car seat trade-in event. Car seats can be traded in at any Target store Sunday, April 14, through Saturday, April 27, 2024. Find a Target location near you on the website.

Instead of sending your expired or damaged car seat to a landfill, bring it into a Target store and in exchange, receive a 20-percent-off coupon to put toward a new car seat, car seat base, travel system, stroller or select baby home gear. When you drop off your car seat or base, use your phone to scan the QR code on the box (which will be located near Guest Services), then tap “Add to Target Circle Bonus.” Your 20-percent-off coupon will be in your wallet in the Target app until it expires, or you redeem it twice (yes, twice!).

Materials from the old car seats will be recycled by Target’s partner, Waste Management. Since this program launched in 2016, Waste Management reports it has recycled more than 39 million pounds of car seat materials!
