In April, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be in Seattle to take part in a landmark four-day community event on kindness and compassion. Here’s more about the event:
Saturday, April 12
Public gathering — “Compassion in Action”
The Dalai Lama leads a conversation on compassion, focusing on the hearts and minds of children. The event, at Qwest Field, will be broadcast via the Internet.
Monday, April 14
Children’s day — “What Does Compassion Look Like?”
The Dalai Lama and other dignitaries will join thousands of schoolchildren at Seattle Center’s KeyArena for a dialogue on kindness, empathy and compassion.
There will also be seminars on compassion and science, featuring world-renowned experts such as Daniel Goleman, Ph.D.; Andrew Meltzoff, Ph.D.; Daniel Siegel, M.D.; Mary Gordon (the creator of the Roots of Empathy program); and John Gottman, Ph.D.
Workshops and forums: Seeds of Compassion will host workshops and forums throughout the event to help parents, educators and community organizations develop concrete plans for positive social change in our communities
