Two moms with their new baby

When you are preparing for a new baby to join your family, the pressure starts early. From the birth plan to feeding to sleeping, the opinions come from all sides. One of the most common questions (often followed by criticism or jubilation) is, “What are you planning to name your baby?”

Some parents go for family names, others for something unique, while others just want something people can spell. But no matter your plan, one thing remains true — the name you pick will be perfect because it will belong to the new little human that you’ll love more than anything.

If you are looking for some inspiration, Nameberry is a website devoted to baby names, including an extensive list of gender-neutral names. The site just released a report of all the top trending names for 2022 in a dozen American cities, including Seattle. The two most popular baby names in the Emerald City both end with a similar sound: Luna is the top girl name and Ezra is number one for boys.

Seattle parents seemed to look to the past for names in 2022. Many of the top names sound like they are straight out of the olden days, such as Delilah, Fiona, Alistair and Sebastian. Perhaps a regal sounding name will lead to a life of sophistication. Madame President Fiona has a certain ring to do, don’t you think?
