Spring break is just around the corner, and Netflix has plenty of new shows to keep the kids entertained on those showery days. Highlights include a new British show called “The Last Bus” and “Our Great National Parks,” a new wildlife documentary series narrated by Barack Obama. Read on for the best new shows for kids, plus a few suggestions for the grown-ups. 

  • April. 1: “Captain Nova” — This new Dutch-language movie is for kids age 14+ and is about a fighter pilot named Nova who must travel back in time to save the future from a devastating global disaster. 
  • April. 1: “The Last Bus” — This new British show is about a group of super-smart students fighting to save the world from an army of evil drones. 
  • April. 1: “A Cinderella Story” — This modern-day Cinderella movie stars Hilary Duff as a teenager who meets the boy of her dreams only to be foiled by her evil stepmother. 
  • April. 1: “CoCoMelon” (Season 5) — Sing, dance and clap your hands for another season of fun and frivolity from CoCoMelon. 
  • April. 1: “Polly Pocket” (Season 5) — This cute Canadian show features Polly, Shani and Lila as they embark on a new summer adventure. 
  • April. 1: “Abby Hatcher” (Season 2) — Kids can look forward to more girl-power action from the tenacious Abby Hatcher and her best friend, Bozzly. 
  • April. 1: “How to Train Your Dragon” — In the latest movie, Hiccup needs to prove to his dad that he can be a Viking warrior even though he wants to befriend dragons instead of slaying them! 
  • April. 1: “Trivia Quest” — This new interactive trivia series from Netflix will test your knowledge of history, art, science, entertainment and more.
  • April. 8: “Green Eggs & Ham” (Season 2) —This popular animated series based on the classic tale is back with more rhyming fun. 
  • April. 8: “Barbie: It Takes Two” (Season 1) — This new series follows Barbie “Malibu” Roberts and Barbie “Brooklyn” Roberts as they chase their dreams with the help of family and friends. 
  • April. 12: “The Creature Cases” — In this sweet animated series, Sam Snow and Kit Casey are two undercover agents who solve mysteries using zoological facts and intuition.
  • April 13: “Our Great National Parks” (Season 1) —This new five-part documentary, narrated by Barack Obama, shines a spotlight on America’s breathtaking national parks and the wildlife living there. 
  • April 15: “Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City” — Join Strawberry Shortcake and friends on her new adventure in the Big Apple. 
  • April 16: “Lego Friends: Girls on a Mission” — Five best friends from heartlake city band together to solve problems and figure out what really matters in life. 
  • April 19: “Battle Kitty” — In this new series, a small but powerful kitty uses her super-strength, intuition and accessories to unlock a new battleground. 
  • April 28: “Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles” — Rabbit Samurai Yuichi, a descendant of the great warrior Miyamoto Usagi, embarks on an epic quest to become a true samurai.

Top picks for the grown-ups

  • April 1: “The Bubble” — Need some light relief? This new comedy from director Judd Apatow (“The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Knocked Up”) might just fit the bill! This original comedy is about a group of actors stuck inside a pandemic bubble in a hotel trying to produce a cheesy action movie.
  • April 20: “Russian Doll” (Season 2) —This pandemic hit is back for a second season.
  • April 29: “Ozark” (Season 4) — The final part of this popular series lands at the end of the month.
