Ryan Werenka, M.A.T. was recognized as Michigan History Teacher of the Year by the Gilder Lehrman Institute in 2021. He has been a high school social studies teacher for over two decades, specializing in AP U.S. Government and AP Comparative Government. A 2000 graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor’s degree in History, Ryan earned his Master’s in Teaching from Marygrove College in 2004. Beyond the classroom, he has served as a Student Government and National Honor Society Advisor and Varsity Football Coach. His extensive contributions include leadership roles on state and national social studies boards and civic education initiatives. Ryan has a wonderful wife and three children.
