A mother is not a person to lean on, but a person to make leaning unnecessary.” – Dorothy C. Fisher
There is nothing like a mother’s love and wild animal mothers are no exception. From the deepest oceans to the leafy treetops – mothers of all species are caring for their babies with dedication and courage. Join us at IslandWood on Mother’s Day for a celebratory look at the lives of wild animal mothers and the work they do to nourish, teach and protect their young.
We are creating a space for you to relax in a beautiful setting, and honor and nurture a mom or mother-figure in your life. Enjoy our wooded trails with your family and as you hike – find your way to our special interpretation stations throughout campus located at all your fave trail spots: The Bog TreeHouse, the Bird Blind, the Learning Tree, Creaky Tree Meadow, Mac’s Pond and our Forest Canopy Tower! Visit these trail-side ‘drop-in’ activities with your crew, or feel free to just enjoy our six-miles of trails as they pass by natural landscapes that soothe, captivate and inspire.
Arrive at your leisure between 1:00pm and 2:00pm. Enjoy our grounds for a pick-up frisbee game, activities and trails with your family and then join us in the Dining Hall starting at 2:00pm for a special Mother’s Day Tea, IslandWood Style! Our menu includes a selection of fresh and seasonal bites along with tea, coffee and fresh fruit juices. Starting at 2pm, or when you’re hungry, weave your way over to the Dining Hall for a special Mother’s Day Tea, IslandWood-Style!
This event is family-friendly, so please bring your little ones! Dress comfortably and casually for a day outdoors.
