Early Music Youth Academy in Concert with Joanna Blendulf and Bill McJohn

Calendar/Event Details

55316

Fine student musicians aged 12-14 present lively chamber music of the Spanish Renaissance on three violas da gamba, three violins, harp, lute and recorder, with special guest performers Joanna Blendulf (viola da gamba) and Bill McJohn (harp).

Directed by Shulamit Kleinerman (violin), the program explores music from the late 15th century to the early 17th. Sweet songs from the Cancionero de Palacio contrast with catchy instrumental melodies that were associated with Spain yet famous all over Europe. Improvisatory melodies by Diego Ortiz and a raucous musical battle consort round out the program.

This is the Early Music Youth Academy's last public performance until April. We hope you'll join us, and tell your friends!

This casual concert is free and appropriate for all ages, lasting less than an hour. The Salle Saint-George is wheelchair accessible. Parking is available in the lot adjacent.
