Baroque Meets Karuk

Calendar/Event Details

A week prior to commemorating Indigenous Peoples Day, on Sunday, Oct 1 at 7pm @ Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Sound Salon (formerly known as Byron Shenkman & Friends) opens its 11th season with a concert Baroque Meets Karuk, 17th century Works for strings and harpischord, highlighting the connections between Spain, Italy, Austria and the colonization of Turtle Island (now known as the North American continent.) It will be an unique, exciting and amazing music experience.

A string ensemble led by Anna Okada performs works by Bartolomeo de Selma y Salaverde, Andrea Falconieri, and Isabella Leonarda, alongside music from the Karuk tradition of the Pacific Coast, gifted by violist and Karuk tribal member Breana McCullough.
