Connecting With Yourself and Your Child: Nonviolent Communication Strategies

Calendar/Event Details

Please join us for our November Monthly Meeting, Connecting with yourself and your child: Nonviolent Communication Strategies!

Nonviolent Communication (also called Compassionate Communication) is a way to identify your feelings and needs and to hear the feelings and needs of your child. That shared understanding can lead to a quality of connection that makes finding solutions easier. It is a way to put your own oxygen mask on first, before assisting others!

We will practice techniques to use with children when they are upset and will practice identifying feeling and needs.

Our guest speaker Heather works with children of preschool age practicing breathing techniques and helping them identify their feelings and needs and the feelings and needs of others.

Heather has explored the practice of nonviolent communication for over ten years by attending workshops and participating in practice groups. She has been part of a meditation group for many years. Heather holds an elementary teaching certificate has degrees in public health and instructional design. Most importantly, she attended the school of parenting and was schooled by her two children as to how to live in the world.
