Located in the heart of Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, independently-owned Elliott Bay Book Company, turns 50 on June 29, 2023.
Since its founding in 1973 by Walter Carr at 109 Main Street in Seattle's Pioneer Square, the iconic full-service bookstore, is renowned for its unique selection of books, hand-built old-growth cedar bookshelves, warm and knowledgeable staff, established author readings, and for opening Seattle's first bookstore café.
We're celebrating our 50th anniversary with a special family day on July 1 featuring local authors, treats, and more in the children's section. There will be story time readings every hour featuring: Toni Yuly at 1:00pm, George Shannon at 2:00pm, and Jessixa Bagley at 3:00pm.
During the 1 pm story time, there will be a “donut social” for the kids by plant-based specialty donut shop, Dough Joy.
