Great American Solar Eclipse

Calendar/Event Details

Are you not in the path of totality for the Great American Solar Eclipse on Aug. 21?
Don't be sad, meet us at the Museum for a totality of fun with other eclipse fans, including NASA!

NASA's Gulfstream III Science Aircraft will be based at the Museum Aug. 20-21 for its airborne science mission of the Aug. 21 eclipse, so while the plane is flying high over Oregon during the eclipse at about 10:12 a.m., NASA officials and Museum educators will be with you on the Museum grounds from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.!

Viewing the eclipse without special eye protection can cause serious damage to your eyes. The first 1,000 visitors to the Museum will receive free and totally safe eclipse viewing glasses.
For more information about safely viewing the eclipse, NASA has tips.

Inside the Museum theater, we will be showing NASA's Eclipse MegaCast live coverage of the eclipse from 9:30-11:45 a.m. (free with admission to the Museum). Then be sure to stay around and greet the NASA plane when it arrives later in the morning!

Museum and NASA experts will be on hand to answer questions on all things eclipse!
