Advance Registration Required

Dance Builders is a fun, interactive, workshop for kids ages 5-10 to explore creating stories with movement.

Company members from the upcoming show Vulture Sister Song will perform an excerpt from the show, and then lead kids in engaging games and exercises exploring their own connections with birds and other more-than-human creatures. Kids will then create their own dances or scenes through creative movement, storytelling, and live music. Together participants will practice listening with all their senses, shaping bodies and words in new ways, and sharing leadership in playful collaboration. No dance experience required!

Dance Builders is led by Kate Elias, Ellen Smith Ahern, and Pete Dybdahl—all artists, parents, and co-creators of Vulture Sister Song. This interdisciplinary performance explores relationships between humans and the natural world through dance, music, storytelling, and sculpture. In advance of the show at Rainier Arts Center on March 8 & 9, they will be hosting a handful of community events to connect people to these ideas and their work! Check out their website for more about Dance Builders!
