PETROCINELLA, A Neopolitan Rapunzel
More than two hundred years before the Grimm Brothers wrote the story of Rapunzel, the tale of Petrocinella was created. When a woman tries to steal some very special parsley from a land of Monsters, she is captured by an Ogres and forced to give up her only daughter. The girl is imprisoned in a tower where the only way in is to climb her very long hair. She is eventually rescued by a Prince and escapes her monstrous jailer to be reunited with her Mother. The story is full of lively characters; the citizens of Normaleville, the monstrous residents of Monstrozona, talking Vegetables, living Sculptures, singing Nuts and heroic Beasts.
