The Museum’s annual Sally’s Day honors the enduring legacy of astronaut Sally Ride—the first American woman to fly in space. This year the Museum celebrates with a space music choral concert by STANCE, a presentation by a NASA space food chef Vickie Kloeris, an all-ages spacesuit fashion show and free Fran’s Chocolates.
Schedule
STANCE Choral Performance
Time: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
STANCE is Seattle's first choir of transgender and nonbinary singers. Their epic performance celebrates Sally Ride, Pride month, and The Museum of Flight’s new exhibit, Home Beyond Earth. The show will include a selection of songs about space, and one of their members, Katie Vitale, will be debuting her original composition, Orbit.
Vickie Kloeris Space Bites Lecture and Book Signing
Time: 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM
Author and NASA Food Scientist Vickie Kloeris offers a delicious program based upon her memoir, Space Bites: Reflections of a NASA Food Scientist. Kloeris worked on both the Shuttle and International Space Station food systems, and her story is for the scientist, space enthusiast and anyone who has wondered how to make a sandwich in space, produce a space food breakfast for the cast of Apollo 13, or work side by side with astronauts as they prepare for the journey of a lifetime. Kloeris offers a charming balance of technical knowledge and human experience.
Spacesuit Design Challenge Top 20 Fashion Show
Time: 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM
The Top 20 Spacesuit designs in the Museum’s annual Spacesuit Design Challenge will be showcased in a space-glam Fashion Show.
