VIRTUAL: 10th Annual Seattle Asian American Film Festival

The 10th annual Seattle Asian American Film Festival showcases feature-length, short, and animated films by and about Asian Americans across North America, with an emphasis on filmmakers from the Pacific Northwest.

All films are region-blocked to either the United States, U.S. West Coast, Pacific Northwest or Washington State only. The films will be available to stream throughout the duration of the festival from March 3–13, 2022.

Below is a preview of the kid-friendly shorts featured in SAAFF 2022:

Anton – 2 minutes – The moving animation in ANTON illustrates the power of art to create new worlds. We follow the young artist at the center of film as they struggle against the expections and obstacles of the larger world to realize their dream. FREE

The Best Gift – 1 minute –A little bunny goes on a long journey to visit his loved one. He finds many little gift-worthy things along the way. "She would love this! Oh and this! And this!". Before he knows it, he is bringing A LOT of gifts. But little does he know, nothing can compare to the best gift of all... FREE

A Bowl Full of Love – 5 minutes –  After a particularly difficult day, Ria, our main character, decides to cook a childhood favorite. As she cooks, she goes on a trip down memory lane and ends up realizing just what matters most. $8-$10 for package of shorts.

The Cookie Heist – 8 minutes – Two young brothers have to find a way to put their past behind them in order to steal cookies from the top of the fridge, all while avoiding their father. FREE

CYMK (Colors You May Know) – 2 minutes – Created in response to the terrible killings, discrimination, and division of 2020; COLORS YOU MAY KNOW is a friendly reminder from House of Chai to please love one another and celebrate our differences. FREE

Extra Credit – 5 minutes –  An autobiographical animation that captures Angel's stream of consciousness, as a quiet and shy 9-year old, lost in her own world.$8-$10 for a package of shorts.

Jitters – 1 minute – A short animation about a young pianist who is trying to shake off performance anxiety and the unbearable jitters.  $8-$10 for a package of shorts.

Lemons – 1 minute – LEMONS is a short film exploring the idea and the pursuit of perfection. Of course perfection is hard to achieve, and even if we cross our t's and dot our i's sometimes it doesn't work out. LEMONS also speaks to what failure feels like, and what it means to fail. FREE

The Pākalā Kids – 5 minutes – On the run from their home in the rural old plantation town of Pākalā Village, two best friends, Lani and Dixie, embark on a journey up Waimea Canyon. FREE

Pua Warriors – 7 minutes – PUA WARRIORS is an animated action film about magical girls Leilani, Ayaka, and Jasmine who need to prevent a sludge monster from destroying their hometown on the island of Hawaiʻi. But team leader Leilani is unable to use her full pua power to fight. How can they win? FREE

Wander – 6 minutes – After wandering away from his mother at a Filipino wet market, Chris, an imaginative young boy, must find his way back to safety while evading a monstrous figure that stalks the alleyways. FREE

Watermelon Secrets – 1 minutes – Ever wonder why your parents or grandparents always slap watermelon? What are they listening for? How can you tell the difference between a bad watermelon and a tasty watermelon? Crack the code to watermelons with this charming animated short! $8-$10 for a package of shorts.
