The City of Seattle’s fourth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Day celebration is an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of how Dr. King’s power to change society for the better has been passed to each of us.
Ilyasah Shabazz, the third daughter of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz, will be the keynote speaker, celebrating Dr. King’s legacy. She will be joined by Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, Seattle City Council President Bruce A. Harrell, and Seattle City Council members, as well as community leaders, city employees, and more.
Ilyasah Shabazz is an author, most notably for her memoir, Growing Up X, as well as a community organizer, social activist, and motivational speaker.
