Aretha Franklin, of course, said it best: All I'm asking is for a little respect (just a little bit!).

How many times do we repeat that refrain to our children? These days, it often seems as if we're fighting a very steep, very uphill battle. From reality shows to celebs to YouTube clips, sassy sit-com kids and even your neighbor's child, respect's gone MIA and no one knows quite where to find it.

I don't know about you, but I never went for the "just call me Linda" best-pal parenting style. I realize that's sorely last-century, but I rather liked it when my friends kids called me Mrs. Morgan. It seemed...well...respectful.

I talked with Joyce Taylor about this topic - one of my favorites - on last week's Parent-to-Parent on King TV. Check it out. Would love to hear your comments!
