Cherry-pick your spring blooms
Planning ahead for spring? Everyone knows about the cherry blossoms on the University of Washington's Quad. And we mean everyone — which makes this a crowded petal-gazing and photo-shoot spot.
A much quieter (and better) location is Washington Park Arboretum (2300 Arboretum Dr. E., Seattle). On Azalea Way, just past the Graham Visitors Center, you’ll find many flowering trees with low branches, which makes it much easier to photograph short subjects. The arboretum even publishes a guide to seasonal plants, including lovely Japanese maples, for amazing backdrops in any season. Tip: Get the wiggles out before your shoot scooting or biking along the arboretum's new paved biking and walking path.
