Best Off-Season Northwest Getaways for Couples and Families

A fairytale setting awaits at the adults-only Hazelnut Inn, just an hour outside of Vancouver, B.C. Couples can embark on a whimsical, relaxing stay inspired by the owner’s European travels. The hotel opened its first suite recently, with two more in the works.
Stay in: Book a stay in the North Star Suite for a romantic sea-themed adventure, where mermaids guard the captain’s quarters. This summer, you can step into an underground cottage with twisted roots overhead in the Under Hill Suite — it opens in June, and advance reservations can be made. The castle-themed Copper Crown Suite is currently under construction, with an anticipated opening in 2026 or later. Each suite includes a soaking tub for two, a private garden, water features and a firepit.
Head out: There are plenty of local eateries and more around Chilliwack. Grab a to-go slice from Dancin’ Pizza or head to a local winery or brewery for a drink. If you visit in the summer, you can indulge in a seasonal scoop of ice cream at nearby Mighty Moose. Feeling outdoorsy? Breathe in the fresh air on a walk or bike ride around Vedder Rotary Loop Trail, or explore the Browne Creek Wetlands while you watch for wildlife.
