Grammy guilt

I love spending time with my grandchildren but I hate Grammy Guilt.

Grammy Guilt happens whenever a grandparent says no.

No, I can’t pick up my granddaughter from school and take her to the mall because I have a meeting.

No, I can’t pick up Pampers at Costco because I have to watch George Clooney on Regis and Kelly.

No, I can’t take the 3-year-old to music class because I just can’t.

No, I can’t babysit Monday because I’m writing an article about hands-on grandparenting.

No, I don’t see the irony.

There’s also the “no” component that comes with saying no to an actual grandchild.

Such as no, you cannot have more ice cream, or that new toy, or a Cinderella costume, or watch Baby Einstein six times in a row.

That I have not experienced. But I’ll let you know when and if it occurs. I don’t see that happening any time soon.
