We know how imperative it is that we stay in touch and involved with what's happening in our kids' classrooms. We try to keep track of their homework, their social lives, their progress, hopes, dreams and goals. But how essential is it that we keep connected with their teachers?

Actually, we need that on-going contact, and so do the teachers. From us, they gain insight into the way our children think and behave - and the kinds of issues they worry about and consider important. From them, we learn more about what's expected of our kids at school, and how they approach and tackle each new challenge.

In Beyond Smart, I discuss ways to make the most of parent-teacher relationships. Today, I discussed some of those issues with KING TV anchor Joyce Taylor on KING's Parent to Parent segment.

Have you bonded with your child's teacher? Would love to hear your comments.
