What’s especially fab about the new Rotary Adventure Playground on Camano Island is how the communities of Stanwood and Camano made it all happen, using vision, imagination, and sheer old-fashioned work. Over 1,000 volunteers built the park – literally built it – in a rapid-fire five days in May, using funds raised from the Rotary Club, local companies, and community members.
And what a park it is. The day we were there – with kids and grandkids – children were reveling in the Viking ship, cool climbing, sliding and swinging stuff, and a super sweet mini-park called Tot Lot. Even under dreary, drippy skies, the park was packed. Which proves that if you build it together, they will come. In droves.
