...be an organ donor!

How's that for a creative way of being "green"?! I borrowed that line from a site where you can get cool organ donation awareness stuff. I've got the license plate frame.

Did you know that April is National Donate Life Month? Did you know that as of today there are 98,873 people on the transplant waiting list in the United States? Or that there are over 1200 on the list right here in the Pacific Northwest? Did you know that just one organ and tissue donor can save or enhance the lives of over 50 people? done-vida.jpg

Are you signed up to be a donor? You can do it on the Living Legacy website, it's that easy! I feel strongly about sharing this information because I donated a kidney to a friend of mine several years ago but my one kidney didn't make a dent in that long waiting list. I'd love to get some comments from you, our readers, letting us know how many of you are donors already or how many of you just signed up to be one. How cool would it be if this blog post inspired a few of you to sign up...

If you need a little help being inspired, check out the short film Decision to Donate. Yesterday I attended a luncheon where John, the donor in this short film, was given an award for his work in promoting organ donation. That was the first luncheon I've been at where each place setting had not only a lovely little box of chocolates but also a pack of Kleenex! Trust me, there wasn't a dry eye in the room.
