Refilling my cup on top of Squak Mountain

Published on: December 30, 2013

squak-mountain-snowHad to share this happy exhausted-mom escape with my ParentMappers: This morning, got the kids off to school and then snuck away with a fellow overworked working mom for a rain-or-shine hike. Outfitted in layers of fleece, hideous last-season hats and long underwear, Lori and I trotted to the top of Squak Mountain in Issaquah on our beloved Poo Poo Point trail.

Yes, it was borrowed time. Yes, it was....bracing, to say the least. But as we gained altitude, we also gained snow, until we hit the top, which was a winter wonderland. We stood in silent wonder. We wondered, "Why don't we do this more often?" Serious, stress-relieving "me time." Time elapsed: three hours.
