Attention, chocolate-loving ghosts and ghouls! The Seattle Chocolate Haunted Factory Tour is back for limited October dates, and tickets are on sale now.

Tour tickets typically sell out, so if you want to see how chocolate is made, through a fun and spooky lens, book your tickets right away.

Seattle Chocolate has been in business since 1991 and is known for its classic meltaway truffle. The company also has a premium brand called jcoco, with the aim of supporting families facing food insecurity. With each jcoco sale, Seattle Chocolate makes a donation to partner food banks in Washington, California and New York.

Haunted chocolate tour

Here’s the deal: The factory has been taken over by Dark Disciples who want to rid the world of milk and vanilla. It’s up to you to stop their dark ritual before time runs out. Gasp!

Last year I braved the haunted factory tour along with my 12 year-old-son and a 10-year-old friend. The tour led us through a series of haunted rooms where we had to solve simple puzzles. Live actors set the mood and made the atmosphere feel a little creepy, but mostly fun.

After passing through the rooms, we came to the factory’s haunted hallway, which took the scare factor up several notches! We had fun, but there was some real screaming from all three of us.

Haunted chocolate factory age recommendation

Both the kids agreed that the haunted chocolate factory experience might be too scary for kids younger than age 8. My 10-year-old companion wisely advised, "If you’re not looking for a scare, don’t go."

Thankfully, we all made it out, and there was much discussion on the ride home about the best, scariest parts. We had a great time, and both kids said they would do it again.

Is there chocolate?

The Haunted Factory Tour is a fun Halloween-themed event offered by a company you can feel good about supporting. And it’s at a chocolate factory! With chocolate! What more could we ask for? At the end of the tour, each of us was given a tiny bag and 30 seconds during which to stuff it with small, individually wrapped chocolate pieces. So yes, there is chocolate, but not a lot. (Of course there is plenty for purchase.)

This fun event is family-friendly, and recommended for chocolate lovers ages 8 and older. Just remember, if you want to go, book your tickets right now so you’re not disappointed.

See you there … if you dare.
