Pacific Science Center
Pacific Science Center offers its Exploration for All program one Saturday a month, typically either in the morning, 8–10 a.m., or in the evening, 6:30–8:30 p.m. These hours are outside the regular hours that the center is open to the public. Admission is free for families with a member on the autism spectrum, and no preregistration is needed. Attendance is limited, lighting is softened, and the noise level and visual stimulation on interactive exhibits is decreased wherever possible.
Exploration for All visitors can enjoy a live science show, planetarium open houses, the Tinker Tank makerspace and a laser program. The Tropical Butterfly House, PACCAR IMAX Theater and the hands-on exhibit areas are also open, but note that the Salt Water Tide Pool is not open.
The general exhibits and both IMAX theaters are fully ADA-accessible, wheelchairs are available to borrow at no cost and aides are free when accompanying a guest with a disability. Sensory kits are available anytime at the Guest Services Info Desk in Building 1 and include noise cancelling headphones, ear plugs, fidgets, sunglasses and more. You can also download a social narrative explaining what it will be like to visit the Pacific Science Center
In 2023 the new Sensory Lounge opened, which provides a calm space for guests to decompress, regroup and engage in new ways. The Sensory Lounge is located in Building 2.
Hours and cost: Admission to Exploration for All is free for families with children on the autism spectrum or with sensory needs. Advance reservations are not needed or available; just show up. During regular hours, admission is $26.95 for adults; $19.95 for youths ages 3–17 (you can save a little by buying tickets in advance online); tots ages 2 and younger are admitted for free.
