Local news alert!
This week, ParentMap launched an Eastside version of our regular Wednesday FUN enews — a weekly enewsletter that shares the best family outings, events, shows and activities for the week ahead, plus at least one awesome giveaway.
So we now offer three local versions of ParentMap FUN: Greater Seattle, Eastside and South Sound.
Here are a few FAQs about why we did this, and how you can make sure you're getting the most relevant local information about parenting and Puget Sound family fun.
1. Why are you launching an Eastside enews, and why do you offer region-specific enewsletters?
Readers asked! In our October survey, hundreds of readers asked for better access to hyperlocal content through our enewsletters and other channels. We also thought it was a pretty swell idea, and wanted to better connect readers to some of the great regional content (eg, our calendar) already on our site.
2. How will an Eastside enewsletter be different?
Our Eastside enews will aim to serve an Eastside audience. So we'll prioritize and lead with Eastside-focused events, activities and giveaways, though we'll also include Seattle and regional events and reviews when they are of interest to an Eastside audience. (Similarly, our South Sound enewsletter serves a South Sound audience, and so on.)
3. Where do I sign up?
- If you're not already an enewsletter subscriber, sign up at parentmap.com/enews. and pick your region.
- If you are an enewsletter subscriber, go to the "manage preferences" link on the bottom of any ParentMap enewsletter that you've received (see image at right), click on the link, and choose your correct regional edition.
- Or, simply email our enewletter editor emurray@parentmap.com and tell her which region you live in and she can sign you up.
4. Wait a minute. I live in Tacoma. How do I make sure I'm on the South Sound enews list.
See above. :)
5. I live in an in-between area, not really in the Eastide or South Sound or Seattle. What do I do?
Think of which city (eg, Bellevue, Seattle or Tacoma) you tend to visit more and sign up for that region's enewsletter. When in doubt, the Seattle newsletter is a good choice, since it will highlight the best of all regions. Here are the general regions we set up:
Eastside: From Mercer Island to North Bend, and from Auburn to Bothell.
Sound Sound: From south of SeaTac to Tacoma and Olympia. Includes Olympia.
Greater Seattle: Includes areas just north and south of the city, as well as the North Sound and Bainbridge Island, Vashon, etc.
6. Ahem, I live in Edmonds. What about an enewsletter for the North Sound/Snohomish County?
If this experiment goes well, we may launch other regional versions of FUN. Stay tuned. In the meantime, the Seattle version of FUN will also include North Sound content. Feel free to email news@parentmap.com with ideas.
7. Please, no more newsletters! How else do I access your regional content?
You can easily access our online calendar by region. Simply filter by location, or here are shortcuts to Eastside events, South Sound events, Seattle events, and North Sound events. (You can also sign up for our regional Facebook pages; see below.)
8. I have a tip/complaint/idea/query about ParentMap's enewsletters/articles/website/logo. Where do I send it?
If it's about our enewsletters, send it to news@parentmap.com. If it's about anything else, send it to editor@parentmap.com.
9. I'd like to advertise in one of your enewsletters. How do I find out about it?
We'd love to talk to you. Find the correct contact on the advertising page of our website.
Join our regional Facebook groups
Bonus! We've also just started Facebook community parent groups for four different regions of Puget Sound, which aim to connect you to great giveaways, local events and other parents in your community. Invite yourself to be part of the group at the link.
