NASA Climate Day at The Museum of Flight

Calendar/Event Details

No planet is better studied than the one we actually live on. NASA's fleet of 18 Earth science missions in space, supported by aircraft, ships and ground observations, measure aspects of the environment that touch the lives of every person around the world. These dedicated missions have revealed that fast moving climate change, extreme events and weather disasters are the new normal.

Learn the latest from NASA JPL Solar System Ambassador Ron Hobbs, The Glenda ProjectPoint Defiance Zoo & AquariumUW SPACE AmbassadorsUW's Atmospheric Science Outreach and EarthGames and discover the REAL way to save the planet: by supporting planetary science and Earth observing satellites.

2:00PM Exploring the Earth as a Planet, presented by Ron Hobbs

Sixty years ago, Explorer 1 became the first satellite to gather scientific information from orbit about the Earth and its environment in space. Since then, international fleets of satellites continue to study Earth and its climate. The instruments and techniques developed to study the Earth are used to study other planets. This talk will review what we are learning about our home in space.
