The messages and methods of these two great souls are extremely relevant today. As we face what seems to be a backward movement in the struggle for racial, religious and economic equality, the tools of non-violent protest and civil disobedience may once again be useful in the fight against darkening forces of bigotry and intolerance.
As deeply spiritual men, both felt a profound connection with all life. Their emphasis on the power of love, compassion and kindness to conquer all obstacles was a natural outcome their innate spiritual understanding. Let us honor and learn from the selfless lives of these inspired leaders.
