Brigade Encampment

Calendar/Event Details

Step back in time to 1855 at Fort Nisqually Living History Museum’s annual Brigade Encampment. This event recreates the bustle and excitement of the historic visit of fur traders to Fort Nisqually in 1855.

Witness the arrival of the brigade (the convoy that delivered a year’s worth of furs) and spirited contests between trappers and traders. Guests of all ages can participate in “Engagé for the Day,” visiting with living history interpreters at their tents and receiving hands-on lessons on period skills, games and skills of the time and collecting beads in trade along the way.

Delight in food sampling from our period kitchen, take in a Punch and Judy Puppet Show by Professor Pettitcoat, listen to a history talk. This two-day event has something for everyone!
