Intro to Ceramics Ages 10–17
Join in the fun at Redmond Art Works for a 2 hour class on how to create your own ceramic artwork using the wheel and hand building techniques.
Students will be introduced to the exciting world of clay through a wide range of project ideas and building techniques including wheel throwing, slab, coil, surface design, glazing, and firing. During this session you will be supported by the studio owner Chelsea, instructing you in the basics of hand building & wheel throwing. Chelsea has been a ceramicist for 10 years and is also an elementary teacher in Bellevue. Each student will complete at least one piece, that will then be fired and ready for the second step of glazing at a later date.
This intro class is required for anyone new to pottery that is interested in using the studio during independent open studio hours. It will help you have the background knowledge and familiarity with the basics of clay and the studio, so you can start coming in on your own, no reservation necessary!
Redmond Art Works offers plenty of open studio time for you to drop in to finish the glazing and finishing touches of your piece / pieces at a $10 hourly charge. Class fee includes your first 3 pounds of clay. Please signup on our website or call 425.522.4466 for last minute reservations!
