Dino Lecture at the Burke Museum

Calendar/Event Details

During this talk, vertebrate paleontologist Jeff Wilson Mantilla will dig into the remarkable research he has conducted on sauropod dinosaurs and paleobiogeography of the Indian Subcontinent.

About the Speaker

Jeff Wilson Mantilla is a vertebrate paleontologist focusing on the evolution of sauropod dinosaurs and the paleobiogeography of the Indian Subcontinent. He has explored these two partially overlapping themes, which involve the influence of abiotic/extrinsic factors (tectonics, physical aspects of size) on biotic evolution—over the course of his career. His research is specimen-based and balances empirical work with investigations of a more theoretical/synthetic nature. He has ongoing field-based projects in India and South America directly related to these themes.
