Currently, there are 63, 0000 Climate Justice Ambassadors in over 130 countries who are taking meaningful action to address climate change. During this FREE academy, kids will learn about the causes of our global climate crisis and what this means for people both here in Seattle and in other parts of the world; they will learn about climate justice and how vulnerable peoples are first and worst impacted by climate change; and they will learn how to take meaningful action to try and mitigate and solve this crisis by planting trees, working with legislators, testifying at hearings, and more. Kids will also learn important speaking skills and how to best communicate with friends, school, media and government officials. Kids who join our club will attend fun monthly meetings, planting events and nature outings; and they will do activism, music, and art!
Parents are invited to attend an optional Parent workshop during the academy from 9:00-11:00, where they will connect with other Plant for the Planet families who are supporting each other during this unprecedented time in history. Community and Action is the solution! Climate Change for Families, is leading this event but we want to thank the Sierra Club of Washington, Washington Women Climate Action Now, South Seattle Climate Action Network, STAND.earth, West Seattle Democratic Women and 350Seattle for helping us spread the word!
