The Museum of Flight celebrates 50 years of the Estes Astron Alpha model rocket with a special display by the National Association of Rocketry (NAR), plus a meet and greet with Bill Simon, designer of the original Alpha. The Museum will also screen the movie, October Skies, the inspiring story of rocketeer-turned NASA engineer Homer Hickam. NAR will exhibit models showcasing the evolution and descendants of the Alpha, including the world's largest at 12-feet tall.
Visitors can also see the Museum's extensive model rocket collection, and the Gee Bee racing plane flown in the movie, The Rocketeer. The exhibits will be on view from10 a.m. to 5 p.m., October Skies screens at 3 p.m. All programs are included with Museum admission.
