Pacific Bonsai Museum Summer Solstice

Calendar/Event Details

Sixty bonsai in the forest, painter Kimberly Trowbridge & friends, Ukulelist Arden Fujiwara, and one evening of LIGHT.

For one night only, we will stay open until 9 pm. Take in the LIGHT and beauty of bonsai in our woodsy setting. Go for a stroll, meet up with friends, snap a gorgeous photo, and breathe in the fresh summer air.

You can also peek over the shoulders of en plein air painters as they capture the golden light on bonsai. Kimberly Trowbridge, Director of the Modern Color Atelier at Gage Academy of Art, will be painting with students and alumni of her program, focusing on the method of color-blocking that she describes as "a translation perceptual experience into discrete shapes of color."

Joining us will be ukulelist Arden Fujiwara, who will be strumming his way through our main exhibition space. Born and raised in Hawaii, Arden learned from ukulele masters Jake Shimabukuro and Troy Fernandez. Now based in Seattle, Arden breaks expectations and elevates the ukulele across new boundaries.

Free admission (with a suggested donation of $12 for adults who are able to support the Museum). More at https://pacificbonsaimuseum.org/events/a-bonsai-solstice/
