Fun and always unpredictable, the Seafair Torchlight Run features runners and walkers of all ages and abilities invited to dress in rather peculiar and very creative costumes. The Seafair Torchlight Run serves as the prelude to the Seafair Torchlight Parade, so tens of thousands of spectators will be on deck to cheer participants along the parade route. There are two course options, 5K and 8K, both starting and ending in the shadow of the Space Needle.
The Seafair Torchlight Run is one of the only evening races in Seattle. The run starts and finishes at Seattle Center and takes participants along the Torchlight Parade course. All participants will start their race on Mercer St, passing the parade groups and floats before turning onto 5th Ave, which connects to 4th Ave and all of the parade spectators. Runners will continue south on 4th Ave before turning back northbound at Spring St via 5th Ave. 5K participants will end their looped run at the base of the Space Needle while 8K participants will complete a second loop of the parade route before finishing at the same location.
