Seattle Aquarium Fun at Pier 62

Calendar/Event Details

Join Seattle Aquarium for hands‑on activities open to all ages. The focus of each event varies from learning about plankton, to storytelling with otters, and fish print art. See event details by date for more. Events will be held outdoors, so please dress for the weather.

JULY 14
PLANKTON EXPLORERS
Join Seattle Aquarium experts as they uncover the amazing life that hides in every drop of seawater: plankton! It comes in thousands of different varieties, so experts can never be sure exactly what will be found during this event. Seattle Aquarium staff will bring special equipment to collect plankton, as well as microscopes for observation. Visitors will see something truly unexpected and maybe even something Aquarium staff have never seen before!

Event is limited to 20 participants at a time who will get hands on in the order they arrive. Event will be held outdoors, so please dress for the weather.

JULY 21
GIANT PUPPETS: UPCYCLING INTO PLAY
We will be exploring the many ways to reduce, reuse and recycle natural and salvaged materials to create a large-scale interactive art piece. Or in this case, a giant puppet! For this occasion, we will be creating a sea jelly which our audience will build and play with as a community. We will have a variety of materials and tools available for people to use and provide guidance where desired. Join us for some large-scale puppetry fun!

Please note: People are welcome to bring a few small recyclables, fabric strips or strings to add to the project. Please, no plastic bags as we have many already. If people bring their own recyclables or materials, please be prepared to take unused materials home to be recycled or otherwise reused.

All ages welcome!
