Join us for a talk and Q&A with recycle artist, Thomas Dambo, known internationally for his whimsical trolls one of which will be built on Vashon the first two weeks of September.
Northwest Troll : Way of the Bird King, by Thomas Dambo is a series of large scale wood trolls who tell the tale of protecting nature and honoring our land. This is the perfect opportunity to hear from the artist himself and ask questions!
Fashioned mainly from recycled materials like wood pallets, each troll is unique in personality and each has its part in the story of the Way of the Bird King.
Vashon is a site partner for one of the six trolls being build in the Seattle and Portland area. This series is presented by Scan Design Foundation in partnership with Paul G. Allen Family Foundation. Our Vashon Troll is presented by Vashon Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Vashon Parks District with in-kind support from Vashon Land Trust and Vashon Center for the Arts.
Signed copies of Thomas Dambo’s latest book “Trash, Trolls and Treasure Hunts” will be available for sale at the talk. This book is 440 pages packed with photos, stories and poems about Thomas’s first 100 giant trolls.
