Today’s families are facing unprecedented stress and mental health challenges. Adolescent girls face real problems on a daily basis. Hormonal changes, identity development, relationship ruptures, academic pressure and competition, parental expectations, family turmoil, societal problems, depression and anxiety can all lead to a state of overwhelm. Learning strategies to adaptively overcome adversity, cope with stress and build positive change are critical “antidotes” to this second pandemic facing our nation’s girls.
Join ParentMap and THIRA Health for an important discussion aimed at helping parents of teens navigate the mental health crisis that has been intensified by the pandemic.
In this hour-long talk, Kathryn Korslund, Ph.D., chief clinical officer at THIRA Health and an expert on dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), will address the problem of teen anxiety and suicide, and offer strategies to help parents and adolescent girls cope with stress, talk openly about suicide, build skills for effective coping and learn how to seek help for oneself, a teen or a friend.
Teens are encouraged to join their parents for this important discussion.
