Our 2021 Winter Family Adventure Guide arrives as the leaves begin to fall, and many of us are already lamenting the shorter, gloomier days. Our Rx for cabin fever? Plan a supersunny family vacation — we’ve got three fun-packed itineraries for desert destinations your kids will love.
Closer to home — but also high on the adventure (and size) scale — one of our favorite CPOs (chief playground officers) has packaged up rain-or-shine insider’s guides to four of our area’s megaparks as well as the scoop on Seattle’s fabulous new community iceplex. Keeping to the theme of “big,” we’ve also included rockin’ play stops to make friends with some of our region’s most fascinating (and enormous!) glacial erratic boulders.
The pandemic wears on, but there are still plenty of special and safe ways to treat the family to the best holiday adventures on offer, including exhilarating rides by train and sleigh.
Editor’s note: ParentMap is sad to share the news that Capt. Larry Roxby, operator of Northwest Dogsled Adventures, a dogsledding business featured in the Winter Family Adventure Guide, was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident on Nov. 5. Northwest Dogsled Adventures will no longer be offering tours. Friends of Roxby’s widow, Jeanne Rose Roxby, have established a GoFundMe to help fundraise for the continued care of the couple’s 22 sled dogs and the Flying Furs Farm.
