October 2024

Fall has arrived in the Pacific Northwest; school is in full-swing (here are some tips for encouraging strong student–teacher relationships), and we’ve got the info you need on the two candidates running for Washington State’s Superintendent of Public Instruction. Remember to get out there and vote next month!

In this month’s issue, we take a look at how ADHD impacts social capital and offer tips for supporting your child. We also spoke with a former social media influencer (who is also a mom) who shares her proven tips for going tech-free. With all that tech-free time on your hands, why not check out these great graphic novels featuring neurodiverse kids!

When the weather is chilly but you are craving some fall views, revel in autumn’s splendor along these less-traveled roads. And if you are looking for a fun new destination, head to Snohomish, our Neighborhood Spotlight, for some charming farms and yummy food.

However you spend your October (and here are 15 fabulous ways to do so), we hope it delivers all of the good seasonal feels to your family. Don’t forget to check out our annual Learning and NWAIS School Guide issues while you’re at it!
